Paul-Emile Brandt was the great architect and driving force behind the Omega brand.

Omega with a co-axial escapement

In 1999 Omega made history with the introduction of the first mass-produced watch with a co-axial escapement, one of the most important developments in the field of watches since the invention of the lever escapement. This requires almost no lubrication, which removes one of the shortcomings of the traditional lever escapement.

In 2007 Omega revealed the new calibres 8500 and 8501, two watches with co-axial movement which were developed and produced from A to Z by Omega.
